"Beans are such a nice, neutral canvas, you can make a big, basic pot of them and then play around with them differently every day."

About CHP Heirloom beans

1280x600_GreenValley_logo-1_edited.jpg
  • For more than a decade, Country Harvest Pantry has sourced heritage and heirloom dry beans from small growers across the United States. These growers do heroic work to preserve genetic diversity and the nutritional benefits inherent in dry beans. Your purchase supports these small growers.

  • Some varieties are thousands of years old. Others are newer, but all breed true -- they aren't hybrids. If you plant our beans (although we like eating them better!), you'll get more of the same bean.

  • Previously offered only at farmers markets in Tucson, Arizona, Country Harvest Pantry now sells more than 40 kinds of beans, legumes, and soup mixes nationally. Beans are always from the most recent harvest and are packed in one-pound packages. Every package includes a bay leaf because beans are always better with bay. Taste the history!

"The cultivation of beans has been crucial to the development of civilization: as a source of protein, as cattle fodder and as a means of replenishing nitrogen in the soil."
